Research Podcast

 This week we were tasked to find a podcast that discusses online communication. In my searching I can across a fun podcast called Think Fast, Talk Smart. They do quick information filled episodes called "Quick Thinks." This episode was called Quick Thinks: How to Shine Online and Excel at Virtual Communication. 

This podcast talks about successful online communication. They speak about the importance of keeping attention on online communication platforms like social media. In the podcast they express the importance of decreasing cognitive overload (Abrahams 2021). This directly relates to the textbook material we learned this week, where it was stated that the typical person can only really focus on five issues at a time, but the media offers much much more (Green 2023). The podcast highlighted how we have become more task oriented as opposed to relationship oriented. We have seen this topic covered in this class when we talked about the effects of social media has on interpersonal relationships. The podcast also highlighted tips for a successful online presentation like how to present yourself, making sure your lighting is good, keeping eye contact with the camera, creating emotions in your voice, and using appropriate gestures (Abrahams 2021). This part of the podcast really stood out to me because we just have finished our first presentation in this course!

I found this podcast to be a great reminder of topics we have covered in this class so far. I think this really highlighted important tips for successful and professional online communication!
